i think you are both right. Its not a good idea to run both, and they use more resources. and can conflict. Im running both and they play well together. I like not being dependant on a single point of failure. MSE thinks its own virus def's are virii, eset knows they aren't. eset didn't pick up a 0day trojan, mse did. it wan't a live trojan but it just gives me options. the thing i dont like abt mse is that when it tells me there is a problem you cant minimize it or work around it. you cant even force quit it (it re-launches).

I don't klnow about ESET with 64 bit WINDOWS 7.....
I wrote to ESET to ask about compat and they responded that they are still testing and will not formaally affirm for W7 until after W7 is released

MSE is well know. It's MS Live OneCare without some features (firewall, saving files, etc)

Maybe those that are using ESET can help me out. I was trying to create a Rescue Disc in ESET and noticed the following on their web site:

Due to limitations in Windows AIK, an ESET SysRescue cannot be created with the 64-bit version of ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit as well as the 64-bit version of ESET NOD32. So if above is the case, what are 64-bit people supposed to do and why include this feature in your 64-bit software that can't work anyway?

Couldn't create it. Said it needed to dowload AIK which is 1.3 GB apparently, that I found out after doing some more research and then I read on their site that it does not work with 64-bit ESET.

So not only does it not work "according to them", they allow you to try and create the rescue CD (well, at least choose the option) and then they have a link to download this 1.3 GB file in the program, although it apparenty doesn't work with 64-bit. Not sure how much faith I have in them now with what appears to be a pretty big blunder.

I don't normally just ignore warnings, especially when they are coming directly from the horse's mouth. Although they seem to be contradicting themselves here.

So if someone is running the 64-bit version, what have you done? Just simply not create the rescue CD? If that is the case, what if you can't get back into Windows? What does ESET say to do then?

Just curious if anyone has found out.
