So my next move is to get a valid copy. What should I expect to happen to this copy of windows? Will it just quit working or what?
    Thanks, John

I am going to get a genuine copy. I don't want any help with this pirated copy. I just wanted to know what to expect. I got screwed. My fault. I will go else where for help. Sorry I wasted your time. I won't be bothering you people anymore

You didn't waste anyone's time and it's good that you got an answer to your problem. Oh and don't feel bad about having ended up with a pirate copy of Window's, it's a growing problem nowadays. Good luck with your next install.

Thanks, but I resent being treated like a crook. I am NOT seeking help with a cracked version. I just wanted to know whats going to happen until I can afford a new copy. My wife has things on this pc that she really doesn't need to lose if it crashes or whatever. I'll see if someone elsewhere would be willing to answer this.

Yes, some people are just too 'matter of fact' at times than they need to be! Not everyone is like that though :)

Did you, by any chance, download it from the internet? It's just a hunch but, I don't think a friend of a friend who owns a "computer place" would give you a pirated copy. Why? A person that owns a "computer place" wouldn't give a customer (even if its a friend of a friend) a pirated copy because if the customer finds out the owner could get in trouble for piracy. Now, what is MORE likely is that you thought it would be a good idea to download an illegal copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and then use an "activation crack" to make it work.

Really sad, I really HOPE that you didn't do this yourself. And if you didn't, your friend's friends are really bad people.

    Not sure if this helps

I restore my win 7 image from external HDD yesterday, and mse could not validate my copy, neither did the online tool, so I searched activate windows on start menu, and activate through there, then everything was fine again.
