    WinPatrol 2011

WinPatrol 2011 has been released. In addition to fixing a couple of bugs with 64-bit operating systems, with the release of WinPatrol 2011, Scotty is monitoring additional information in Active Tasks.

    WinPatrol 2011

    • What's New? -- As more computers are sold with the 64 bit version of Window we've worked hard to keep up and make sure Scotty doesn't lag behind the technology.
    • Active Task -- You'll notice more information available for our list of Active Tasks. This is usually the first place you'll check to remove any unwanted programs from reappearing so the more information the better. You'll find two new columns and on newer versions of Windows you can now view active DLL's which are connected to running Tasks.
    • ZeroDay Alerts -- WinPatrol 2011 responds better to repeating alerts from unknown sources. Files which are repeating alerts are also tracked to provide quicker creation of PLUS Info for new threats.
    • Delayed Start -- Bug fixed on 64 bit systems when moving programs from the Startup Programs list to Delayed Start.
    • Services -- Display bug fixed when changing startup status. Fixed bug in 64 bit Windows when displaying non-Microsoft Services.
    • Activation -- Corrected Internet error message when trying to activate PLUS features with wrong code.

This version seems to have quite a bit of bugs with the UI. Even got to be non responsive after a bit of resizing/dragging around. Quite screwed up.

I was able to duplicate the spreading out of the action boxes at the bottom of the GUI (Info, Refresh, Kill Task, etc.) as well as the temporary disappearance of tabs after resizing/dragging. Clicking a viewable tab returned the other tabs to their normal position. Resizing back to the "normal" size returned the bottom spacing.

I was not able to duplicate the first two images but will point this out to Bill.

I pointed Bill to this topic and he replied that he will be taking a look at the GUI issues.

Bill uploaded a new WinPatrol build that currently disables monitoring of the Windows Update feature on 64 bit. It appears that the update for language localization introduced repeating alerts of Windows Update. Most people don’t even know WinPatrol has this feature. Bill indicated that it will return once he has a clear understanding of what has changed since the release of Windows 7 SP1 on 64-bit operating systems.

If you are getting this repeating alert, you can download WinPatrol 20.0.2011.2 at BillP Studios Download Page
