Microsoft Security Essentials 2 - any reason to use anything else?
I've been using MSE forever on both Windows 7 and XP. MSE 2 gives me the best performance, doesn't require any major configuration, updates automatically in the background, and I haven't caught any viruses. With my TechNet Standard subscription, I decided to give Microsoft ForeFront Endpoint Protection a try, and it seems pretty much the same as MSE. In short, MSE seems to me like the best anti-virus around. I just wanted to post my opinion about how excellent MSE is.
Is there any good reason to use anything else? I certainly don't think so.......

One important point to use MSE. I have helped out on many BSODs, that were caused my Anti Virus software. I have never seen one caused by MSE. I think that the entire BSOD squad would tell you the same thing.

If MSE works great for you, then you are absolutely correct : there is no need to change at all.
This is something that many of us tend to forget : "If it works for me (protects my system), then I have no need to consider a change."

Sounds like MSE is a good fit for you. Depending upon your general Internet usage, you may or many not need to supplement it with something else. I use occasional Malware Bytes scans, and also occasionally make us of Sandboxie...when I am going to do anything remotely questionable). These together have kept me free from problems. In all fairness though, my surfing habits have also not put me into a situation where any of these applications really had to do anything either. For example, Malware bytes finds nothing more than an tracking cookie, here or there.

Oh yeah I also forgot to mention that I use Malwarebytes and Superantispyware along with it, which also works quite well. I gave ThreatFire a try a while ago but it caused my system to slow down incredibly, made my shiny new laptop feel like an old clunker lol.....

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware does not scan for tracking cookies.

Yes, you are right. I shouldn't be holding a conversation when I type responses. It was ccleaner that I was thinking of which comes back with cookies that can be removed.
My point still remains...my surfing habits don't make my AV or MBAM go off, ever. (Sometimes it makes me sad that my AV doesn't have anything to do)

MSE touts real-time but I have had it pass malware that it did not detect until I did a backup or manual scan. It does find them, but the real-time protection seems kinda weak to me. Maybe that is why it seems less "heavy" on resources than others.
