    Microsoft Corporation

    Disables Active Desktop and prevents users from enabling it.

    This setting prevents users from trying to enable or disable Active Desktop while a policy controls it.

    If you disable this setting or do not configure it, Active Desktop is disabled by default, but users can enable it.

    Note: If both the "Enable Active Desktop" setting and the "Disable Active Desktop" setting are enabled, the "Disable Active Desktop" setting is ignored. If the "Turn on Classic Shell" setting (in User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer) is enabled, Active Desktop is disabled, and both these policies are ignored.

    Hi Pooch,

    mbam found Hijack Display properties set to 1 on Vista quite a while ago - I removed it , but when I checked at the mbam site - they say it's harmless.

    If I find the log, or the link to the mbam thread, I'll post it.

    Edit: This is it

    Registry Data Items Infected:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoActiveDesktopChange s (Hijack.DisplayProperties) -> Bad: (1) Good: (0) ->

    Thought they were going to whitelist it.

    Hey SIW,

    Thanks for this
    I completely killed my install yesterday and do not have a clue why, I thought it could have been that I deleted this one entry.
    So now I am going to delete it again

    Yeah, it's just changing it from 1 to zero but I never found it with mbam in Vista. I just don't know why it's set like that in the first place.
