Malware warning
Another good reason to avoid sites like Twitter etc.
Another reason to avoid social networking sites if you don't need to use them. If you do choose to use them (and that is your choice), ensure that your AV software is running and is upto date and that your firewall is enabled. Twitter isn't as bad as some of the others, such as Facebook, but it is still a social networking site and as such is a prime target for malware perpetrators using social engineering techniques.
I don't use them for that reason, only friends and trusted get my email addy :)
I actually try to discourage people from using Facebook and other social sites. They are usually rife with Malware and whatnot.
Not that I'm knocking them. It's your own preference if you want to be on them. It's just that you have to use extreme caution anytime you go to one of these sites.
My wife's friends consistently use social network sites....and a couple times a month I end up getting a call from one or two of them saying they need me to clean up their computer......
Note: I have installed Anti-Malware and security software on their PC's and advised them to please, please, please run it on a regular basis....
