Although what you suggest is indeed often a source of malware, people can also be infected when they are completely innocent of any wrongdoing, so one has to be careful about making sweeping statements like this.

Most of the viruses that infect people's computers are often because they either cannot use a PC properly, or they don't have the appropriate protection against them. You're right, sometimes we can't control what we are exposed to, but the right use of a computer, dramatically reduces the chances of getting one.
I don't basically disagree with that. One just has to be careful when addressing such things not to brand people as stupid, incompetent, or indeed guilty of wrongdoing.
We are here to help people if we can, not to castigate them for not knowing something, inadvertently doing something they shouldn't have, or having problems caused by things beyond their control or knowledge.
Of course, if somebody is using cracked or pirated software, there is no point in trying to help them, and it is in any case against forum rules.
Basically they have asked for trouble and got it.
