    Hi All,

+1 here on the Vista Firewall Control,

And with regards to Comodo internet security, latest word on the comodo forums is that although the compatibility issue with the installer is still there, the latest Beta is working fine with the Later Windows 7 builds. Can't confirm this personally as I have not tried it since before Build 7000 but may be worth a look when it comes out of Beta

Ok... Anyone have a link to the current Comodo beta? I have Windows 7 with the latest updates and windows firewall disabled and just uninstalled and reinstalled the latest Comodo version 3.8.65951.477

I still have the error message that says "The network firewall is not working properly." View Active Process shows nothing running.

So, what is the latest Comodo beta version and is there a link to that version?

The Comodo "Beta Corner" is located here ....

    Beta Corner Login

    Latest Released copy is 3.8.64263.468

Unfortunately it is a members only area so you will have to register at www.comodo.com to gain access - it's free so not that painful :)

Obviously if you are going to run the CIS Beta on Windows 7 Beta I would advise that you are especially diligent with regards to Backing up your data (and make sure that you haven't switched off system restore

I just installed the Vista Firewall Control : Sphinx Software, allowed firefox and then bang! No more working firefox

I uninstalled the app, double checked that firefox was still allowed, even manually added it to Windows firewall but all I got was loading tabs that never loaded.....odd.

System restore is a wonderful thing, but it sure is making me lazy

    Hi Smarty,

I am using FF 3.07 with Vista Firewall control and have been for some time without any issues at all.

I suppose It could just be you and your luck

I only use system restore when everything else has failed, but you're right it's nice to know it's there

I'd say there's a possible element of that

I never actually used restore points until Seven. Once I saw how easy it was, I restore left, right and center

I still try to fix most things the old fashion way through trial and error, swearing and cursing, but when laziness and sheer 'not interested-ness' comes into play - bam! Hello restore :)

I just used the built in Firewall when I was running Windows 7.
Smarty those restore points can come in handy at times I've made use of them since WinME days although not had to that often but it's nice to know they're there when needed, of course you have to make sure that they are working

Bitdefender. I have a full version. Under win 7 the antivir doesn't work yet but the firewall is 100%. It's very intelligent in deciding which programs to let pass or not.

I only use the Windows Firewall in both Seven and Vista. Half the time with my fiddling I am the virus

If I'd known about restore points usefulness back in the XP days, I'd have been a convert long ago. The option to 'take a mulligan' is indeed handy

You can install it in compatibility mode for Vista or you could just see how good the windows firewall is, that's what I decided to do, if it aint broke....
I'm another one that just uses the Windows firewall, between that and my router (hardware firewalls will always be better than software firewalls) I've never had any issues.
