    Windows 7 Stores password?

    Hi all,

I am new in windows 7. Would like to have some advice from the forum, how the windows 7 stores user password. In Xp we know there is SAM on system root file, does 7 stores password on file to? If yes, where? If not, what is the password storing mechanism it uses?

    Thanks!

    Hi seraf,

Windows 7 does have a feature that allows you to create a password reset disk, by storing it on either a USB thumbdrive or a floppy disk (yes a floppy disk!). I'm not really sure yet where 7 stores the password on the system.

The password is still stored in the SAM file (c:\windows\system32\config).
