    Locked Out By Firewall

In trying to obtain connectivity between our Asus Laptop 1000HE running W7 build 7100 and two other home network computers running XP Pro. I went into the Windows Firewall advanced settings on the 1000HE and enabled all options then clicked OK. This is did not help the network connectivity but did lose the ability for Windows Exporer to access the 1000HE's C drive with an error message "Location is not available, C is not accessible, Access Denied." Windows Firewall "advanced settings" will not allow me to remove the check marks from the boxes I enabled. Trying to access properties (sharing) for the C drive in "My Computer", the error message is "your system administrator has blocked you from running this program - access is denied". I tried running services.msc and got an error message "windows cannot access services.msc". There is only one user account on the 1000HE and it has Administrator privileges. How do I undo the changes I made in Windows Firewall Advanced Settings?" Thank you.

    Hello tomg,

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

You could try booting into safe mode, but not sure that would work. The other option is to activate the built in Admin acct. Info if needed.
    Advanced Boot Options
Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable

Hope this helps. Please keep us posted.

Every option I tried was blocked by the system so I have just completed a reformat and reinstall of W7. Struggling to reconfigure everything as I had it. Thank you. Tom

    Hi and welcome

Lets start from the beginning. First all the specs for your system. then what exactly did you do (what settings, where did you change them) to get you locked out. then what did you do to try and get back in. do you have a backup, etc.

There is one lst option to get you back in. re-install but none of us like to do it.

    Waiting for info

That was the last option. Installing is faster, but it still takes a lot of time to get everything set up.

    Take care,
