Virus turns pen files into shortcuts
Hello forum,
I have a new problem: the computers from my school are all contaminated with this strange virus: It is not harmfull for the PC itself, but as soon as you plug a pen, your documents and folders turn into shortcuts and you won't be able to open/execute them.
I've opened the task manager and there are these strange applications going on:
ziehog.exe and ziehogx.exe
There is no process or the process that matches them is hidden, even if I right-click>go to process.
When I right-click>stop task, the task manager crashes and if I open it again, the tasks are still there.
To remove this, I open CMD and type:
attrib -h -r -s /s /d f:\*.*
This command makes my files and folders reappear, and also make other files appear, such as ziehog.exe and ziehogx.exe. Then I delete both of these files and I delete the autorun.inf that appears. I also delete all the shortcuts, because I have the files and folders back to normal.
The problem is: if I remove the pen and plug it back in, the same thing happens and my files turn into shortcuts again.
I've tried to look for ziehog.exe and ziehogx.exe in those computers but can't find them anywhere. I haven't tried to run any anti-virus or anti-malware because those computers don't have any of them and the Wi-Fi is too weak for me to download them from the internet (they cannot establish a connection). I also don't want to plug my pen because I'm afraid it will damage it, even after I run the CMD command (I'm affraid I bring the virus to my own laptop).
What do you suggest?
Thanks in advance,
Eric.
