Rogue virus
Question any one run into the new or old XP Internet Security 2012 rogue virus got it on a clients computer not sure what will work the best way to remove it at this point any suggestions out there in Forum land.

try the free version of malwarebytes with the infected computer booted in safe mode.

I expect you meant 2010 or 2011. Regardless, mickey megabyte is correct about using Malwarebytes Anti-malware. However, note that MBAM is best run in normal mode rather than safe mode. thanks for the link Corrine.
i'm not exactly sure why i've always ran malwarebytes in safe mode. i guess i'll have to learn to change my habits. :) |

Yesterday when I first worked on it it said 2011 and when leaving i swore it was now saying 2012 we will see what it is when I go back to house to finish up work what version it says thanks for info, malwarebytes is what i usually use to.

Hi, sandman. See the instructions here: Remove Win 7 Antispyware 2012 and Vista Antivirus 2012 name changing rogue (Uninstall Guide). One of the names the rogue uses is "XP Internet Security 2012".

Thanks for the info have checked everything possible going to do a reformat, which is over due for this system. I had another system or even 3 with this same or like virus and the end result was a clean install finally over the coarse of 3-6 months. Thanks for the info.

Rogue antivirus Why is it that no anti virus program seems able to thwart the Rouge Antivirus viruses? lots of folks get tricked by these, and the major anti virus companies have done little to stop it. Anybody have any idea why it is so tough to prevent infection from these sorts of viruses? |
