E-Set Virus help

I've gone through the threads and posts on here and everyone is very helpful but I wasn't able to find an answer to my problem. I don't use Windows 7 enough to sound credible so I won't even try. Although, I have successfully removed the e-set virus from a couple Windows 7 PCs. Yesterday, I worked on my third one. This one was a monster. Again, I'm no wiz. I look at forums, look for credible information, and read reviews on how certain strategies work out for different people. After a few attempts I ended up using a method that included using SuperAntiSpyware. This did remove the e-set virus but when I rebooted the computer it seems as if all the programs execute files were deleted or something. If I click on internet explorer the "what program would you like to open this with" window comes up. You can get on the internet but you cannot use other programs such as the computers actual anti-virus software. I also downloaded firefox and it won't even launch the install. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Any tips? I'm not pretended to be a guru here, I know my capabilities. I suggested he take it in to a professional before I even touched his computer. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

Windows 7 & Windows Vista Ultimate

Hi, EmJay83. Welcome to SevenForums.

It does not sound as though you have actually gotten rid of the e-set virus. I suggest following the instructions at Bleeping Computer. You will always find safe, complete instructions in the guides there. See Remove E-Set Antivirus 2011 (Uninstall Guide).
