Which one is it

A single user license for NOD32 AV v4.0 costs $39.99 US on the ESET website. You can buy version 3.0 from Newegg and (they claim) download version 4 for a free upgrade for $29.99, so you save $10. It's not unusual to find software cheaper from third party sites.

I've used ESET's NOD32 antivirus for at least two years now, on all my workstations and laptops.

All I can say is, it's an incredibly good product; and I would definitely recommend it.

Another one who has used ESET's AV for the last few years. The firewall has been.. less good in prior versions but seems to at least be in the ballpark now.

I've had some struggles with the firewall as well, but seem to finally have it up and working quite well. The firewall is solid (sometimes too much so with shared folders on the network ), but I believe I have it up and going just fine now. I've written them about my struggles and they have always answered in a timely manner and have made several good suggestions for the configuration.

The one thing that was interesting is I finally received a pop up (in Interactive mode) that the other system on the network was trying to access my system and to allow or not. After doing so, it has made all of the connection issues go away. Not sure why it took so long for that pop up to appear, but I think I've got things going now.

The anti virus has been VERY solid with no system lag whatsoever, even during a full scan, which I cannot say about other anti virus applications out there (I'm looking at you Kaspersky). I wanted a complete package, so that's why I decided to buy and stick with ESET. Again though, as I have said before, there is no "official" support noted for Windows 7, so I'm going to give them time to work out the firewall issues, if more arise.

Looks like I spoke too soon. Now the shared folder over the LAN is not available anymore on the other system. The only way to make it available is to disable the firewall and allow all traffic.

I have written support again and unless they can come up with an easy, quick fix, I think I am done with the firewall. It's useless if I can't access a shared folder on the nework. I told them such and actually told them I want my money back for the Smart Security package and just want the anti virus for the two systems now, if they can't quickly fix the issue.

As I stated, the anti virus is rock solid, but this shared folder annoyance has finally gotten on my nerves. I myself am a programmer and if I can't figure this out, how do they expect typical users who have computers networked together to figure this out?

utorrent downloads is very slow, and when disabling the personal firewall it goes up. I cant figure out what filtering mode to use..utorrent says a firewall/router is limiting your network traffic you need to open up a port so others can connect to you.

ESET Smart Security 4
I see that ESET Smart Security 4 is now listed as Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit compatible: Firewall, Antivirus, Antispam: ESET Smart Security Has It All ...under the System Requirements section. I wonder if they've updated it since I tried it, I may put the latest build on to try it again.
