    McAfee or Trend Micro

My last AV has expired and as a temporary fix, I installed Trend Micro Titanium on my PC. I was wondering which would be the best paid version to go with - Trend Micro Titanium 2011 or McAfee 2011?

Has anyone had any problems with these AV vendors/programs before?

I wouldn't use either. There are a lot of really good free choices out there such as avast!, Comodo, Panda and MSE. If you want to go the paid route, then avast Internet Security, Norton, Kaspersky, G Data, ect.. are all better choices then McAfee or Trend Micro.

But if your heart is set on one of those two, then I would go with Trend Micro all day over McAfee. Head over to http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php and look around for a while, and you can make a much better informed decision.

I've used both and McAfee I wold avoid like the plague. I've been very happy with Trend Micro but some here would disagree. I would suggest trying the free TrendMicro for a period and see if you like it and then purchase or remove. Keep in mind that removing AV programs with the "uninstall program" will likely leave artifacts that the next AV download may not like so please contact their support team for instructions on proper uninstalling (with TM I'm an expert at this) long story and good luck. The best AV is the one you'll use on a regular basis !

Thanks. I have heard some things about McAfee but wanted to get some feedback from it. I'll look into Trend Micro Titanium.

    Thanks again!

I installed Trend Micro 2011 on my XP x32 TestMule, and it was decent...........However, it was a biatch to uninstall. Even Trend's uninstall tool left things behind. I eventually had to do a re-image to install the next AV that I was testing. I would install it with caution if it were me.

Tried both TM and Mcaffee (preinstalled) and both of them are horrible. Try something else, seriously. If you want free, MSE, otherwise NIS 2011 or eset.

My ISP offered free Trend Micro and apparently got a bunch of complaints. They switched to McAfee. Still getting lots of complaints. Go figure. :)

Wow. Well, I have a testing machine of my own, I may look at a few - G Data maybe.
I've had a horrible experience with Norton IS 2011 and would prefer to stay away from it.
