    Change Permission for File

According to Help and Support, to change a permission fjor a file do the following:

Right-click the file or folder, and then click Properties.

Click the Security tab, and then click Edit.

    Do one of the following:
To set permissions for a user that is not listed under Group or user names, click Add, type the name of the user or group, click OK, select the permissions, and then click OK.

To change or remove permissions from an existing group or user, click the name of the group or user, select the permissions, and then select the permission to be changed, then click OK out of the Properties.

My problem is that when i get to "Permissions" everything is grayed out so I can not change anything.

    Need so help please.

    Thank you

Finally found something on it at:

Windows 7 Take Ownership & Grant Permissions to Access Files & Folder

First you have to take ownership and then grant permissions. The Take Ownership instructions work perfectly.

The Grant Permission they left a step out and if I remember correctly, it is after Step 2, they don't tell you that you have to go to the Security Tab before clicking on the Edit button.

Anyway with a little fooling around, I was able to change permissions on the file I wanted to.
