AVG PC tuneup 2011 and Windows 7

I probably made a mistake installing W7 and AVG tuneup at the same time. I then found I was unable to run WinBMD, and finally tried a registry clean-up with AVG tuneup. The result is absolute chaos, hundreds of ActiveX remnants in the registry. Nothing much seems to work properly and I am just about to uninstall W7, back to previous XP before I reinstall W7. Is anyone aware of compatibility problems between AVG tuneup and W7, or why W7 does not seem to want to run WinBMD. I had no problem on XP.

I bought Tuneup because AVG 2011 worked so well as security application. Wish I had not bothered.

Welcome Rapunzel. Have you tried a System Restore? AVG tune up can make unwanted changes to your system.
You can also try SFC /scannow.

    rapunzel,
    FYI.

    Re "Tune Up" Programs.
Windows 7 has all that you should need. eg. Disk Cleanup, tools in Internet Explorer, Windows Defragment etc.
All of them can be accessed from 'Performance and Information Tools' in Control Panel.

Tune up software has a history of creating problems.
This kind of software can lead to paranoia and unnecessary re-installs of operating systems.
Avoid anything which offers a one click solution to making a computer speed up.
