some crap in my computer i can't get ridd off =(

i downloaded some crack for a game (dont worry legal, just dont wanna put in the cd all the time).
and got a warning from microsoft security essentials and it supposedly removed it.

but then security center and MSE was deactivated, my desktop gadgets all stopped working.

in services.msc security center is set to disabled and deactivated, me turning it on only works for a few seconds before its deactivated again.

spybot reports and cleans this: Microsoft.WindowsSecurityCenter_disabled

but as soon as i do a scan again, it's back. spybot removes it.. and this goes on forever and ever.
I checked windows firewall and can't see anything obvious, or in autostart, or in running processes.

Please help.

Win 7 x64 sp1. Oh. Installed AVG antivirus 2011 and that hasn't solved anyting and Sophos anti-rootkit didn't help.

hi there it might be worth running this Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 >>> http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/avptool2011

http://www.kaspersky.com/antivirus-removal-tool?form=1

Quote:
Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 is a free software intended to disinfect infected computers, removing viruses, Trojans, and spyware, as well as any other types of malware. Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 uses the same highly efficient algorithms for detecting malware as Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Algorithms include a full-functional anti-virus scanner, technologies developed for detecting vulnerabilities in installed applications and operating systems, and a technology for running scripts intended for removing complex and compound viruses. The utility can be used as a free anti-virus software.

Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011 is not intended for real-time protection of computer.
The application is absolutely free.
Simple application interface.
Installation on an infected computer. Including:
  • in Safe Mode of Microsoft Windows;
  • when a real-time protection of anti-virus is running.
  • The installation process does not require interaction with the user anymore.
  • Closing the main window is enough to uninstall the application form a computer.
  • Automatic scan and disinfection:
  • search of malware using signature databases;
  • heuristic analyzer;
  • search and neutralization of rootkits;
  • search of applications with known vulnerabilities;
  • non-signature search of malware based on "cloud" technologies (when Internet access is available).
  • Manual scan and disinfection:
  • collection of information about an infected computer and system;
  • interactive creation of disinfection scripts.

What's new in Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011:

The user interface has been improved.
The application installation and uninstallation have been simplified.
A full-functional use of the application from a flash card has been implemented.
The process self-defense has been implemented.
The advanced disinfection has been improved.
Compatibility with real-time protection anti-virus applications has been improved.
Active use of the "cloud" technology of Kaspersky Security Network.

Any chance you can do a system restore to 2 or 3 points back before you installed it?

More than likely, you got other goodies along with the crack that you downloaded. Have you uninstalled the crack yet?

If System Restore doesn't solve the problem, follow brianzion's suggestion to see if it detects something MSE isn't removing completely.

Another good reason to avoid cracks.

Anytime you d/l one, there's a high possibility you'll get "other goodies", the kind you don't want!

Try this tool, RKill, the site gives a well description.

Many good pieces of advice. I would also do a scan with GMer and see if it detects any hidden modules that may not be caught by sophos anti rootkit. Gmer is here: GMER - Rootkit Detector and Remover.

Since the OP hasn't returned, there really isn't much sense in continuing to offer suggestions.
