While System Restore does change windows operating files, and the registry. It is not guaranteed to remove registry files created by 3rd party software. It MAY, but this is not guaranteed. However, if you create a complete backup image, that will restore to the exact state present when the image was made.

Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

Ideally, this will be on a 2nd, separate hard drive, in case of OS HDD failure. For your purposes, it may work fine on a seperate partition on the OS drive. System Restore is actually quite good in Windows 7, but I do not count on it alone. A Guy

No personal experience with Norton. Not to be a wise guy, but I'd choose something else. It may be a question for a Norton forum, since it is so specific. Sorry, personally I'd go with Avast, or MSE and have done with it. A Guy

Hi baxxter,

I see that you have signed up on the Norton Community :-) I'll see if I can "nudge" my Guru colleagues into looking at your issue.

PS: Please be patient since it's the weekend and there are less people around the Norton Forums (and other forums) than on weekdays. Thank you :-)
