Pros and Cos (Norton vs Kaspersky ) ?

I've use Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, 2011, and now 2012. Right now, 2012 is THE BEST version of it out. After updating to patch C, I haven't encountered any issue. That generally goes for all version, overall they're great, except for 2011. I've had my puter and a laptop that had lockup issues for a few weeks. After some updates, I guess those went away. But I installed 2011 on like....16? machines and only two had any issues.

Pros for Kaspersky:
-very efficient scanning
-full and critical scans don't kill the user experience
-virtual keyboard
-very awesome interface
-parental controls
-ability to make a Rescue Disk for hardcore virus damage
-system vulnerability scans
-safe run for websites and programs
-spam addon for Outlook 2010
-Cloud protection that reduces the amount of false positives
-Windows Explorer context menu addon
-uber amount of program settings
-anti-banner
-and some other things :)

I don't know about Norton though. I guess recent versions are better? I personally never use Norton because it's Notorious for being a system hog. And also, I've seen Norton ads online that use celebrity promotion. My personal belief is that if a manufacturer uses a celebrity for adverting, it generally isn't that great of a product, especially if they use David Hasselhoff...

Norton, Kaspersky {plus some others} have been implicated / associated with BSOD's.

I can confirm that both Norton and Kaspersky products can occasionally cause BSODs, mainly because of their self-protection driver and its aggressive way of removing malware.

There is a such thing as too much protection, and sometimes it can be overbearing. Not to discredit either one of these vendors, because they do a very good job, but they frequently can add too much to one product. That would be why some prefer to just have an antivirus, and some like Internet security.

IMHO I think you get the idea.

Although it may seem some of these are true, the odds of this happening on every system are unlikely.

BSODs cannot be helped due to their extra protective drivers. Instability can happen when the "presence" of malware can be detected by the product.

Most antivirus programs that have a self-protection driver are difficult to remove. There is no way around this. You will find this with many of the very good antivirus vendor's products.

An antivirus is as good as you make it :). It's all about whether you will use it and find it easy to use. If that is Norton go with it, if that is Kaspersky go with it. Will detections vary from software to software? Sure but follow the ground rules of using the computer and internet and you will be fine whichever you choose

Depending on how you get a product will depend on what you need it for. Most users will go for a free antivirus before discovering better protection is always found in antivirus programs you can pay for...or better yet an Internet security suite.

Free protection is best for those that know what they are doing, making good decisions on the Internet, avoiding P2P/cracks/etc., avoiding downloads unless they are trusted, etc.

Premium protection is best for the average user. Most people will need an antivirus that costs money. It is best to do so. Pro antivirus solutions help with extra protection, without bloating the OS.

Internet security suites have their issues usually, but they provide the best protection, including firewall and extra protection. In addition, they frequently protect your identity MUCH BETTER than free/pro antivirus solutions.

It is best recommended to truly evaluate your protection needs.

Any one his pc stopped or somthing like that and he is using Kaspersky or Norton ??

-Kaspersky's firewall services are pretty average. They do a great job of protecting against hacker's attacks, and do not block ports aggressively.

-Norton's firewall services are slightly below average. This is because they work more on other protection products, that they occasionally neglect a good firewall solution.

-As for antivirus, both teams do a very good job, however rootkits (AKA powerful trojans) are becoming more prevalent, and Kaspersky's solutions have proven much better detection. As for removal, Kaspersky's solutions are much better at managing it. In addition, Kaspersky has 3 free tools available to remove powerful malware, that can be done in an easy-to-use support section of the Kaspersky website.

Kaspersky's ability to manage support is much better than Norton's ability. Because of the available, simplistic resources on the Kaspersky website, it has proven to be the best out there in support compared to Norton's availability.

-Updating is about average for both of them. They both take about 5 minutes, depending on how many programs are running. That is based on most systems where the internet speed is 1 MBPS or better.

-While this may be a rumor, it does not necessarily need to be discussed because it is highly unlikely for hackers to bust through a constantly updated self-protection driver...known as AVP. AVP has been nearly indestructible since 1994, due to the protection schemes/ideas employed and constantly updated by Eugene Kaspersky, the co-founder.

do Kaspersky slow down the pc or the browser ?

Slow a little is ok ,but now slow down

Yes i have more than the minimum system requirements

Don't worry too much. Kas.'s products work really well...I've never gotten slowdowns with them before.
