There are to many opinions on security regarding AV's. avast!, Comodo, Panda Cloud, and MSE will all do fine. MBAM and HitMan Pro are a must, regardless of which AV you chose.
What I haven't seen mentioned yet is also a must, and that is Norton DNS . It's free and makes any AV better by filtering out 30-40% of bad websites...........A no brainer.
My best experience is with Norton Internet Security. But that is not free - although you sometimes can get it for nearly nothing. Keep checking the Sunday ads.Can I still get your opinion on which AV you think is better
Hi Max,
-- Well performance is the same imho..but it's just me(it may vary on your set-up/system). Though previously I observed that at times Avira detects rootkits better than Avast. But if you have MBAM/HMP it's okay. Avast has a new Avast MBR Rootkit detector based on GMER (though not tested it yet). I also use Norton DNS (great augmentation). Do consider Sandboxie. I added some links that you might want to check out. The discussion there is informative. Can I ask which security setup so far has worked better for you 1 or 2? Oh and which antivirus has worked better for you avira or avast?
Might wanna consider imaging the drive first prior installing the apps so if you don't like the set-up and would like to start clean then it'll be just minutes away.
You also might wanna check this and this out also. Might get lucky :)
Goodluck :)
The best deal on NIS was last year when I bought it for $59,95 with a $60 rebate. So I really only paid the sales tax (minus a Nickel). That was at Staples.
That is our Sunday morning ritual (when we are in FL). We read all the ads and the wife does not miss one letter. She would not buy anything without a coupon or a hefty discount.
