I've used this .reg file in the past when malware changed the .exe registry key.

Save it to notepad and save as a .reg file

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
"Content Type"="application/x-msdownload"
Or you can use this microsoft article with a different Content Type

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWithList][HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.exe\OpenWithProgids]"exefile"=hex(0):

I highly recommend cleaning your system. If the malware changed your executable before, it will again, if you don't clean out the system.

opening .jar files?
I've been looking for a good archive manager that has full support for jar files. It needs to be freeware. 7-Zip does not support jars fully. Every time I try to do much of anything with a jar it says "Not yet implemented" in the latest stable release and the beta of it. I asked at Minecraft's...
Trouble opening jpg files or pdf files in Outlook 2007
I have a new machine running Windows 7 and Outlook 2007. If a picture is inserted in a message it comes through fine, but sent as an attachment most of it is "greyed out". The picture itself is not corrupt because I can view the attachement in the same messgae looking at it on my IPhone. The...

Opening Files
This is just a ridiculous problem. When I try to open files in on the desktop or windows explorer, nothing happens. The little cursor doesn't do the 'loading' circle thing, or anything. Single click to select works, and right click > open works fine, but the double clicking to open doesn't do...
