How do i restrict internet access for other applications

Hi, i have slow internet connection. I want that to utilized for web browsing only. But i guess several applications like adobe reader, nokia-pc-suite also keep connecting to the internet do check for updates or download their files...

I want to restrict all those applications from doing so such that all my internet bandwidth gets utilized for my use only... How can it be done? or can it be done or not without uninstalling those apps...

You can disable many programs from accesing the internet from within the program, itself.
Most firewalls like Comodo have a training mode to block programs from acessing the internet.

I have several programs installed and i do not know which program uses the internet connection exactly... Isnt there such a feature in Windows-7 that restricts all the programs from connecting to the internet at once

Not exactly, you could just plug the cord on your internet, but I see you still want to browse.

Like the user before me has already said, try using COMODO Firewall, it's free. It will ask you to decide whether or not you want to allow a program to access the internet when it's about to connect.

It's very useful and that program is held in high regard around here.
