I'm hit with Marveloussearchsystem.com virus, need help

    I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.

This is a really nasty bug - I've googled about this and so nothing nothing has worked - I have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Avira Antivir, and ran full system scans. Still no good.

I tried to restore my computer to a previous restore point using "System Restore", but all I see is one restore point. I thought my PC automatically makes restore points every so often, but either that's not true, or this bug also affected that.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Easy format and re-install win 7. Pour the CLEAN backup back.

That's what I would do exactly, making sure to write zeros to the disk, not just a quick format... Making sure the virus is gone...

Make sure you delete partitions, format the HD and make new partitions so the MBR is rebuilt. Even that isnt fool proof (some malware can jump partitions) but it is your best bet.

Thanks guys, it looks like I've finally managed to get this under control - combination of Windows Updates, updating Avira, running Spybot, Malwarebytes, cleaning registry manually, blocking the site using my Host file, and maybe a little bit of luck.

I'm not sure which one of these actually did the trick, but I hope a more definite solution for this virus will come out in the near future should it resurface.
