    UAC setting not accessible

Since some weeks I have the following annoyance:

Windows 7 Ultimate > Control Panel > User Accounts : when I click Change User Accounts Control settings, the system does not open any longer the window with the vertical slide cursor showing the options: never notify …..etc
The setting itself is not accessible and this without displaying any dialog box, simply the link does not react.; also UACsetting.exe in System 32 when launched from System Configuration\tools does not activate. This leads me to guess that there is a block somewhere: I thought in the Users, but I am holding an Administrator account, besides this in the security properties the Administrator has FULL control. This is a home PC, not in a network.

Something has happened: or a tweak program or myself inadvertently should have altered the original configuration.
Regretfully previous System restore points have been deleted.

    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

    Hello Geomazo,

For now you could use OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to see if you may be able to change your UAC settings to how you like them.

User Account Control - UAC - Change Notification Settings

You might see if running a sfc /scannow command may help. In addition, I would recommend for you to scan your system with Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper at boot and with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free just to help be sure that your system is malware and virus free.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn
