Is MSE as good as the free Avast or Avira?

    * It is important to update programs & scan regularly.

    * Exercise caution with what you click on.
    Avoid engaging in activities such as file sharing, warez cracks, adult content, online gambling or other high-risk behaviors.
    That's the plan.

    As long as we're suggesting things, Secunia PSI is a must have IMHO. Scans for insecure and end of life applications. A great addition.

    In the two years I've had this computer,the Windows firewall, MSE, Hitman Pro, and Superantispyware have kept me safe. I don't do any torrenting, either.

    I've used Avast free for years now with no problems. Tried MSE for a bit, but ....... what can I say ..... just didn't "feel" safe. No Blue screen's ever on my win7x64 machines. With Avast I also run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. This combo has kept me clean and surfing for ........ lol ..... a while now. *Blush* I do go to the occasional Adult Site and Avast has detected all attempts at infection, so far at least.

    I also use Secunia after hearing it recommended here about a year ago and could not be happier with it.

    Just wait till you hit on a really hot one and get all flustered and push the wrong buttons

    How can we compare webroot complete with this free antivirus
    I think its one have to die hard fan of webroot to buy such expensive internet security with nothing special in it.

    Regarding avast avira and mse avast have many features in compare to avira and mse.
    Avira have good detection and mse have good removal.
    If you choose any one with good firewall and on demand scanner like hitman pro and malwarebytes your machine will be safe.

    However if i had to go with one i will definitely choose avast because of its extra features as well as it will not give you annoy popups like avira nor it will slow down browsing speed like mse.(its strange but its true that mse slow downs browsing speed a bit}
