Post-wmupdate virus issues: slow file copy, photoshop runtime errors
My computer contracted wmupdate virus the other day and wiped my computer. I system restored and had to run a couple disk checks and eventually managed to get the majority of my files back in order (albeit as hidden folders, which i manually changed back).
However, a few of my programs now won't run properly; for instance when i try to open Google Sketchup it loads but then immediately exits the program. Also, Photoshop throws up a runtime error:
I have uninstalled both programs and reinstalled and the errors still occur. An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred. Photoshop will now exit.
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Pro...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I figure the best thing to do would be to backup my files and reinstall Windows. I dont have enough room on my external hard drive for a complete backup, so i have been trying to copy files from it onto another external hard drive, but when i try to move my files over the copy speed slows down to around 50kb/sec and seemingly freezes.
So i have a dilemma. I can't copy my files, so i can't backup my computer in order to wipe it in order to try and fix it.
Being an architect it just so happens that the two programs i predominantly use are the ones that get shafted! Any advice that could be given to solve my problem would be greatly greatly appreciated.
