Windows Firewall vs Router Firewall

I have just rebuild my computer and have the same perennial question - I am told that having two firewalls running is not twice as good as one - in fact it is less goof than one as the tend to clash. So - any views on whether this is still the case, and if so, whether I should disable the one in my router (Belkin) or the Windows firewall.

And finally, if I disable Windows Firewall, and Defender, how do I stop Windows complaining that I am unprotected?

* For your protection it is advisable to have both your Router Firewall & the inbuilt Windows Firewall running.

* Malwarebytes is highly recommended.

Thank you for your response. I should have said - I use Avast! (the free version) as my Anti-Virus. In summary:

Firewall: Windows Firewall AND Router Firewall
Anti Virus: Avast! (I have used that for some years, and have found that it is effective and seems not to take a lot of resources)
Anti Spyware: Malwarebytes, I used to use Spybot, but thought I would change with my new computer. My practice is to use one programme resident, and run a second every month or so to mop up any gaps the other may have left.

I used to use MS Security Essentials, but found it very heavy on resources, especially at boot-up, and so binned it in favout of Avast!

Does that all seem sensible?
