Word to the Wise - Norton 360 - BSOD and earlier Error 5013,3

I have an HP Pavilion Elite e9270f and Windows 7 Ultimate with Norton 360 Version 5.2.0.13. About six weeks ago, our Norton displayed Error 5013,3 which led to a nightmare for me and many others. Norton's "immediate fix" failed to work.

A couple days ago, I saw on our site that Norton released Version 6 and provided instructions for the update. I followed these and found myself with a computer crash/BSOD. Review of internet and Norton 360 Community Forum reveals I'm not alone. Both Windows and HP said that a complete, clean system re-installation, because of circumstances, was required. The lose of so much work and information really hurts!

Subscription renewal of the Norton 360 for 5 computers comes up in 22 days. I'll obviously refuse. I've been with Norton for many years. Suggestions for replacement would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    Ceachell

You are not alone. As someone who has done thousands of BSOD's, Norton (IMHO) is one of the top three in apps that cause them.

They are also difficult to un-install cleanly.

My personal preference is Eset Smart security (Nod32 with firewall) version 5.

Wow this question will open a can of worms...

AVG Anti Virus Pro is the Software of choice on the computers here & has been so for years.
