    Shields on Icons ?

Sudden appearance of Run as Admin type shields on many icons - any ideas?

Malware scans - Avast, Windows Defender, A-squared, MSRT, F-Secure blacklight - Malwarebytes - all clean.

Uploaded a couple of the files with shields on to Virus Total - clean.

    Hi SIW2,

I think I have seen this before with a security program placing them there for files that it has scanned or something.

What was the last program that you installed before this happened?

    Hi Shawn,

I ran a little app. called Anvir Task Manager , have had it for quite a while, but not used it for a long time. It didn't do that when I used it a couple of months back.

Windows task manager processes, Windows startup, Startup programs, Vista tweaks | Windows,

Those shields are on all my O/S which is strange - not just 7x64, which is where I looked at that app. So, I don't think it's that.

    Curious.

Thanks - do you know where they come from. They only appeared in the last day or so.

I think its cause of the run as admin option cause I have them also on like the video driver setup and other setup exe's

Some of mine don't have run as admin ticked - also , it just started happening - apparently out of nowhere

Have yours been there all along?

    SIW2,

This is part of Windows 7. I just noticed some of them on my installation and uninstall file icons. I suppose it's like Vista indicating which files will require approval before allowed to run, but I'm not certain why some have them and some do not yet.

Arent those icons just informing you that some administrator level action will be required? There are some in the control panel as well.

I hope so - what I can't figure is why they have suddenly decided to appear now.

They are all over my Vista install as well.

They weren't there 2 days ago. Shawn is just noticing his - can't be as many as mine.

Do you have them on your desktop and taskbar shortcuts?

Ccleaner seems to have escaped it tho.

    Strange.
