Phishing emails virus, need help to remove

    Hello all,

I have a virus that dumps phishing emails by the thousand into my inbox. When I go into my email client, usually in the morning or evening (Windows Mail), the normal emails loard, and then, maybe a few moments/minutes later, somewhere around 4,000 phishing emails are dumped in as well. They're all the same email, subject line is: "Bank Of America Customer Service - Tell us what you think". The received date is always 11/27/2011 at 9:02 AM or 11/24/2011 at 3:17. So they're not really emails, they apper in my inbox regardless of whether the computer is connected to the internet or not.

I have ZoneAlarm Extreme security, and I've done deep scans. Some times it finds nothing, other times it finds thousands of trojans. Can't recall the name of the trojan at the moment. I've also scanned with Malwarebytes pro both in Windows and safe mode. But the phishing emails continue coming back to my inbox. What can I do?

    Hi usinjin,

I've asked one of our top malware specialists to come and have a look. She will probably ask you to download and run some tools and then post the results. Please do as she requests.

I believe they are set correctly now, high level protection and it's set to move phishing emails to the junk email folder.

Tell me what Anti-virus or Anti-malware scan said you had a virus.

When I scan with Zone Alarm Extreme security, I sometimes get notifications that it has removed thousands of trojans.

just a thought--your original posting seems to indicate 'rootkit' rehavior.

see this link for how to detect/remove a rootkit:
