    Sure.

    You can have as many browsers as you want. Not that you need a lot.

    I don't have MSE but I still use Firefox 99% of the time.

    Firefox will run just fine. Antivirus, as stated by other members is very important!

    MSE runs on the system, it's independent of any browsers....Example....If you try to use a infected USB drive, it will pick that up:)

    Go to kaspersky.com and download their free 30 day trial for Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. Then try MSE.

    Make the best decision based on your personal results/needs.


    You can also find any paid antivirus on Amazon for greatly reduced price (about $20-25)

    Strictly from a BSOD point of view Microsoft Security Essentials is the Anti Virus least likely to cause Blue Screens of Death.
    Symantec , McAfee & Kaspersky are best avoided.

    I recommend Avast! because it has given me no problems and has a very good malware blocker. I have seen it catch viruses before they entered the computer itself! Its network shield is the best I have ever seen.
