Constant Scrolling Through Selection Options - Requires Shutdown
I'm using an HP Pavilion dm4 laptop running Windows 7 x64 plugged into a monitor, keyboard and mouse. This problem has happened three times today, all while I have several programs open and ultimately requires me to force a shutdown.
In whatever program I have open, the selection options highlight in sequence at a rapid pace.
- In Firefox this means it looks like I am hovering over the minimize, then the maximize, then the exit button, each for a tiny fraction of a second... but it doesn't stop. It just keeps highlighting the buttons in that order until I close the window - which takes several clicks to coordinate with the "phantom" selection.
- In Excel, if I have a cell selected, it looks like I am holding the right arrow, and selects the cell to the right->right->right->right... until I'm in column ZZZZZZZZ. If I try and close excel and it prompts me to save a file, the pop up window "phantom scrolls" through the options Yes, No, Cancel and the exit button at the same rapid pace. It takes multiple clicks on a selection for it to work.
I've tried unplugging both my keyboard and mouse when this happens and there is no change. I'm afraid it might be a virus. I've run a full system scan using AVG 2012 and no issues were flagged.
