You may have to allow it to connect through the firewall that's built into total protection. See if the programs access is being blocked under firewall settings.
The firewall settings option in the McAfee control centre are disabled. I can't change them!
You should be able to access the settings, although with McAfee, I wouldn't doubt if they made it complicated. I did find this article which may help you....

If that doesn't help, look around the McAfee site to see if there are directions for accessing the firewall settings.
