Edit: Amazing detections.
You are welcome mate. You made good choice. However, one big reason to uninstall Avast is its interface. The CD player look doesnt do for most of the ppl and then they end up uninstalling it. If you feel so, then you can go for Free antivirus - Avira AntiVir.
hahahaahha! Thanks mate. You hit the centre. It is really like the CD player interface.
I found on the review site you provided that it is better than the other. So I selected it.
You will see me keep changing my anti virus every 3rd day. Not because i cannot buy one and stick to it, but because its my passion to test different anti virus software. Today, being a week off, so far i've tried Panda Global Protection 2010 beta, Rising Internet Security 2009, BullGuard Internet Security 8.7, Microsoft Security Essentials and now trying Bit Defender Internet Security 2010.
Dinesh,
If you are going to teat an AV software you need to give it a little longer that 3 days.
I would suggest at least a month to ensure you catch at least one patch Tuesday and also to see the general speed of catching zero day attacks and the like.
Also of course this should be performed on a fully patched standard install with the same set of programs with no other security software running apart from that provided with the OS. This is so that an update to the firewall could prevent an infection that would have got through under the conditions in place for another product
Because of the chance of infection I would also suggest that all tests are performed within an fully isolated virtual machine that may be imaged and then deleted and replaced as required
None of this meant as criticism, just some hopefully helpful guidelines I'm sure others would be able to add to these with other suggestions
Thanks. I have written lots of reviews on different AV already. You will find it in the security thread.
Yeah i have actually decided to give it more time as nothing unusual can happen in mere 3 days. Thanks for the suggestion Nigel. BTW, my processor doesnt support virtualization.
