    Avast 5.0 beta released

Avast 5.0 beta was released yesterday. This new version comes with a clean interface instead of the hard to operate media player type GUI it had. At the moment it has several limitations and bugs, so casual users stay away. If you want to just test it out go ahead.

A list of the current limitations can be found here.

    Is it working on x64?

EDIT: OK, I installed it ok on x64. So far, only problem I see is that the note that gets put into Outlook emails is not working.

Are you guys running this in addition to something that you already run since so much seems disabled or not working? Can't really trust this as a main anti virus right now can you?

Yes, of course, that's why I was wondering who and how they would be running a product that certainly doesn't seem like it's even close to being ready for prime time. Seems it's a little too early for the beta if you ask me. I wouldn't mind trying it out when it more ready.

I ran it along with ThreatFire. I'm looking forward to 5 being released as I really like the new interface. I made my observations, made my comments in the Avast beta forum and I have removed it and gone back to 4.8 until a newer version comes out.

As they say, its just a skeleton. I will wait for some new builds. For now, i was not even able to update it. There are many bugs as of now.
