MSE is pretty light as well and see the first video. It handled those links without issue. Oh and MSE is FREE.

Some more testing here (I'm bored today - even though it's my birthday, I have nothing better to do )

System resources:

With nothing else running in the background (no browser, bittorrent app, anything like that)

Microsoft Security Essentials - Latest Version

MsMpEng.exe AntiMalware Service Executable 89k
msseces.exe Microsoft Security Essentials User Interface 7k

Total = 96k of RAM

ESET Nod32 Latest Version

egui.exe ESET GUI 4k
ekrn.exe ESET Service 48k

Total = 52k of RAM

Interestingly enough, ThreatFire from PC Tools is pretty darn light:

TFService.exe PC Tools Threatfire Service 3k
TFTray.exe PC Tools ThreatFire Tray App 1k

Total = 4k of RAM

1k=1MB of RAM right?
All I have on my system is ESET Smart security 4, no malwarebytes, no superantispyware, no threatfire exc.
Never had a problem.

Seems as if there is some confusion here, as I thought it was referring to MB's as well of RAM.

well MSE is just abusing the .net garbage collector ( i think ) try looking at resource when doing a full scan... it reaches like 100mb+

I never reached 100mb with eset :P....

my max was 70-90mb?

and mse is still beta... who knows how much bloat will be added in the future =D!!! MOAR RAM!!!

I dont know why you have such a memory drain, but doing a full scan, I'm only using 52Mb ... and thats 22Mb less than firefox ... Im very satisfied with MSE ...

For me:
ESET Smart Security V4
----
Ekrn.exe
Memory: 44.7MB
CPU Usage=0%
----
Egui.exe
Memory: 4.2MB
CPU Usage=0%
------------
SCANNING
------------
Ekrn.exe
Memory=44.5MB (OMFG!)
CPU Usage=About 10%, sometimes 3, one time it hit 50% for a second.
-----------
EGUI.exe
Memory: 4.1MB
CPU Usage=0%
-----------
ESET is pretty much the lightest in the market when scanning, when idle Norton wins though. Keep in mind ESET has MUCH better detection and better heuristics than Norton!

43MB here with ESET during a full scan and the highest drain on the CPU - 25%. MSE in yours is showing 37%.

Just sayin'...

It's funny you guys are reporting this because I have a similar experience. However, if you look here: Norton 2009 products now work with windows 7!
you will that he is claiming a very unusual amount of resources are being used (he claims it practically crippled his pc)
I said in that thread that people are funny when it comes to their chosen av software. They will defend it to the end as if they developed it. I use NOD32 because it's light yet powerful. I don't need/want anything else. it has been working for me for over 8 years and have NEVER been infected
