It's true that NIS2010 is by far a vast improvement over 08.

Norton is a virus in itself...

Sorry, but I will never purchase that. In my experience, they are not any use anyways.

Yeah, at the Detroit New Efficiency Launch Event, I caught a seminar by the Symantec guys and they gave away a free copy of Norton Internet Security 2010 to everybody in attendance. And even with the free code...I don't think I am even going to take a look. Previous experience with that product was less than stellar and trying to get rid of it was like trying to get gum out of your hair.

I left Norton products a long time ago and see no reason to go back ...

Sorry but I wouldn't allow anything Norton within spitting distance of any of my machines.

I believe the new versions are getting better but I don't think it will ever be as good as it was when Norton owned it and it was just an anti virus program.

4th in detection rate according to av-comparatives.org's latest test (August). Only behind G DATA, AVIRA and McAfee.

And by far the lightest Internet Security Suite out there right.

Worth a try in my opinion.

    Here we go again,

Do you guys realize this is the 3rd thread about Norton Antivirus 2009/2010 that is turned into a Norton love/hate thread?

And I see the same faces again saying it's no good and how they wouldn't even try it based on previous versions.

That is by the way, a contradiction in terms.
You can not deem it to be bad, if you say you haven't tried it.

And we criticize people who judge Windows 7, based on their experience with Vista?
    You guys should know better.

The OP provided a nice helpful post for which he deserves thanks.

Not the next 100 page Norton bash.
