Couldn’t hibernate? Malware related? Avg search?

I started having problems with not being able to hibernate with the hibernate button. It was around same time I was trying to get search engines that creeped onto my system like avg search and so on. I tried registry fix apps, Microsoft Security Essentials, Malwarebytes. They didn’t help. Can somebody help me?

Hello ineedhelp2012 and welcome to Seven Forums.

It's dangerous to use registry tools. They can cause more damage than they fix. First thing I'd try is using a system restore point to return my computer to a date/time prior to when the hibernation problem first appeared.

    System Restore

If that doesn't work or if you don't have any system restore points I'd run a System File Checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two, this tutorial.) If any problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You could also try turning hibernation off, rebooting, then turning it back on. Although if you don't use hibernation you could leave it off and gain some additional hard drive space almost equal to your installed memory.

actually system restore didn't do complete registry restore which i counted on.

i did temper with the registry based on advice for malware removal. at first it was like babylon, and now i have avg. i searched "isearch" keyword and deleted entries which was auto rerouting to "isearch" page on my chrome broswer and left any doubt entries untouched.

so now i'm like in somewhat trouble. my normal windows os mode is unstable and i can't access my master/guest account. i can only use windows through safe mode with domain controller. it could be worst and i can still do my work since most apps i found so far works in this mode, seem i can pretty much do most things i can do in normal mode in this mode as well.

and i can also hibernate in this mode as well. i think i did ran combofix and tdsskiller which may've helped gained me assess to this mode.

my research online did bring me to this system restore mode that doesn't wipe everything but repairs broken win 7 os but i think i need windows 7 installation app for this. the thing is that didn't come with purchase. windows 7 was preinstalled on my desktop and i don;t think there a way to make an installation disc from pc.

if i get a win 7 disc, would it fix my situation? would appreicate a professional techician to help.

You could try doing a repair install.

    Repair Install

Depending on which version of Windows 7 you have installed, you might be able to obtain the Windows 7 installer from here:

    Hi,

No you do not - your COA sticker on the side of the computer case (or beneath the laptop) will contain the key you can use to activate the new install.

I recommend this tutorial to guide you through the process:
