Hacker still generating spam from address book

My uncle had his Yahoo hacked awhile back. He's run Malwarebytes repeatedly (clean) and changed his Yahoo mail password, but spam admail continues to be generated to his address book.

I'm assuming this is being done off-site with addresses harvested by the hacking. But is there anything that can be done now to stop it?

Are his contacts receiving spam showing his Yahoo account? If so he can open a new account and cancel the old one. Then notify his contacts so they can ignore or block his old address.

I'd also say get a new account.
I know many Yahoo users that this has happened to. I had a yahoo account and check it very rarely. There is always SPAM from one of my friends even though I know they didn't send it. I also have "email not deliverable" messages for emails that I supposedly sent but I know I didn't.
