    Internet shutdown?

U heard on the TV news in passing - didn't catch the whole bit but it was something about the US FBI shutting down the net because of some DNS malware out there.

Has anyone else heard of this - I don't think it was hoax as the station is our national broadcaster.

Just found this and am wondering what that check for the malware involves as it was mentioned on the TV.

The news is several weeks old. Tonight is the night they shut the infected servers down.

Yeah Hoppy I read that last ref before posting - only I had not heard of this until I walked past the TV this morning - we seem to be always that bit behind the US when it comes to technology etc.

I know when I first started work out here the psychiatric system was still Dickensian compared to what we were doing in the UK and America - mind you it isn't that much better now in fact I think it's worse

Personally I have not even seen the "D" in DNSChanger, so this hasn't affected me in the slightest, that said:

I see no problems with the shutdown of the dummy DNS servers in question, the malware itself has (presumably?) been addressed and everyone has been given enough time and warning to remove DNSChanger from any affected systems. It'd be just a waste of taxpayer money to keep the servers up at this point.
