Since you're sticking with 2.2.1.1043, I read on their forum that the new version will be made available as early as next week through their auto-updates function. So, if you're not planning on upgrading to the new version yet, you might want to adjust your settings. You might wake up one morning to find the new version installed.

I, too, am a longstanding fan, paid customer and supporter of both the company and its fine products.
But I do not select my home computer security products based only on faith, not even from Malwarebytes.
Thus far, we have only the company's superiority claims by which to judge the new product, especially if users plan to uninstall their chosen, real AV to run Malwarebytes 3.0 as sole protection..
I hope I am wrong, but there are no outside testing data to substantiate the claims.
It's certainly up to each user to decide whether/when to upgrade.

No one expected the first build of version 3.0 to be perfect. They shipped a BETA version as a "GA" build and have only released one patch build to fix some of the easier bugs.
Most of the performance, stability, CPU usage, compatibility and other issues will be resolved eventually.
But there are still 14-plus pages of existing and new trouble reports (many of which far exceed merely cosmetic annoyances and many of which come from experienced and savvy users).

Given the holidays and likely scant support staff availability at the Help Desk or their forum next week, it may be advisable to wait to upgrade (there is a setting to defer PROGRAM updates even while taking database updates). It's up to each user to decide, of course.

Cheers,
MM

Thanks for the suggestion Sky Ranch.

I changed my setting to update data base only.

I read somewhere that Malwarebytes recommends running your anti virus program along with Malwarebytes 3.0.
When I do get Malwarebytes 3.0 I will run it along side MSE as I do now.

...Not if you look here or here or here (or the many explanatory posts over in their forum)
They assert that the product suffices for sole protection as an "AV replacement", even though the claim appears to be based solely on their own, internal, unpublished data.

With any luck, that approach will also work.
The company also claims that Malwarebytes 3.0 should work properly alongside a real AV.
However, at least one staff member uninstalled MSE from her own Win7 laptop because of compatibility problems and there are ongoing issues with other MS security products (consumer and Enterprise).
Others are running it with MSE (or WD under Win10) without issues.

The thread at our sister forum contains many links to posts, stickies and other explanations from Malwarebytes employees about what Malwarebytes 3.0 is and is not, what it does and does not do.
Thus far, however, AFAIK there are no outside test results with which to verify the assertions.

I hope that objective, outside data will substantiate the subjective, internal claims, so that we can all confidently choose Malwarebytes 3.0 based on something other than faith and marketing blurbs.

Correction: I misread that 3.0 will be available through auto-updates next week. Those who are presently running an earlier version of 3.0 will be notified of the upgrade patch 3.0.5.1299 sometime next week. Not those who are still running 2.2.1.1043.

I'm still leaving auto-program updates off for now, though.

But rest assured, we continue to support compatibility if you choose to use a third-party antivirus or other security software alongside Malwarebytes 3.0.
If and when I know or think I know that a anti virus program other than Malwarebytes is not needed I will remove the anti virus program (MSE).
I do like a layered method of security.
I will be watching and see how things go with 3.0. and then I will make my choices.

For real time protection I just bought a 5 device license for Norton Security Premium. Cost Au$70 or ~US$50. I know it has its naysayers but I have 2 PCs that have done ok using it for some years now. I'll still run non realtime Malwarebytes but will leave v3 alone for the moment.

Malwarebytes version 1.61
Malwarebytes released version 1.61 today. I tried to update using the auto update on a W7 x64 PC and it failed. I ran the mbam-clean uninstall utility and downloaded/installed version 1.61 without issues. Had to re-register and reconfigure the options. I'll wait a few days to see if others...

Malwarebytes Database Version
I just ran the updater in Malwarebytes, and was surprised at the change in version numbers, as can be seen in the screenshot. I suppose they may just have decided to use a different system, but I'm wondering if it might indicate something more nefarious, like someone else slipping into the picture?
