I hope this one isn't as buggy as the last one was.

Malwarebytes has yesterday released the 1.0.527 component package to the world.

According to their forum thread"

" Hi all—
I wanted to share some promising news!
We’ve now been able to consistently reproduce the freeze in house on more systems and we believe we have narrowed the problem to multi-processor synchronization issues with our Web Protection code on Windows 7.
We have an updated version of Malwarebytes that we’re currently testing, so far with encouraging results.
I want to make this update available just as soon as possible, but we want to be sure we aren’t introducing any additional issues, so further testing is still required. Assuming all goes well, I’m hoping we’ll have more good news for you next week.
We appreciate everyone who’s been working with us to help resolve this problem, even behind the scenes. Your assistance has been invaluable!"

This 1.0.527 component public release on 1/23/2019 reflects what they believe should resolve this inexplicable random "freeze" symptom on Win7 systems. In theory it was born in mid-December with the 1.0.508 update and hopefully is now corrected.

Malwarebytes version 1.61
Malwarebytes released version 1.61 today. I tried to update using the auto update on a W7 x64 PC and it failed. I ran the mbam-clean uninstall utility and downloaded/installed version 1.61 without issues. Had to re-register and reconfigure the options. I'll wait a few days to see if others...

Malwarebytes Database Version
I just ran the updater in Malwarebytes, and was surprised at the change in version numbers, as can be seen in the screenshot. I suppose they may just have decided to use a different system, but I'm wondering if it might indicate something more nefarious, like someone else slipping into the picture?
