Thanks for checking with the MalwareBytes team and clarifying the issue. It makes sense given the seriousness of detecting/removing rootkits that they would not be part of a Hyper Scan. I'll pass this along in the MBAM thread at Wilders :)
    You are most welcome.
    I'm glad I could help.

Thanks for passing along the info to Wilders.

Thanks as well for posting about the new build (2.1.8) that was released today, replacing 2.1.7.
(The only difference between 2.1.7 and 2.1.8 is a fix for a crash-during-scanning bug that a few folks had reported with build 2.1.7.)

As before, release of 2.1.8 is throttled and provided only via the program auto-updater at this time.
Revised product documentation (such as a new User Guide) AND a standalone 2.1.8 installer will be available soon.

    Thanks again,

And now I get to wait to make sure the fix isn't broken (not to mention because I have the auto-updater disabled).

Oh, man, I hope MBAM doesn't go the way of NERO and many AVs and become bloated to the point of being nearly useless.

    Hi, LF:

FWIW, it has been a frequent user complaint that MBAM has not been aggressive enough with PUPs and junkware, despite a pretty robust stance over the past two years.

But I'm sure the product team would welcome your feedback >>here<<, as the forum sticky is "open" for posting.
They may not see comments and suggestions made here at SF.com, and elsewhere in the World Wide Intertubes.

    Cheers,

    Yes, thanks!

NOTE: If you use NoScript browser extension, you'll need to (temporarily) allow "box.com" and "boxcdn.net".

NOTE: This is a temporary download link. According the MBAM CEO Marcin Kleczynski, the MBAM Consumer 2.1.8 installer will probably be available on the regular product download page sometime next week (subject to change, of course). Additional documentation, including an updated User Guide, will also be available soon.

    NOTE:
This is the same 2.1.8.1057 build for which throttled release began via the program's auto-updater on June 16. If you already have version 2.1.8.1057, you have the most current build.

NOTE: You can install on top of version 2.1.6. A reboot may be required, especially if you have either the Self-Protection Module and/or the context menu scan option enabled. Even if you are not prompted to reboot after the upgrade, it would be a good idea.

    Thank you,
      My Computer
