Alright. I give up. I'm checking into the looney bin. The *&^%$#@! would not respond to double clicking for several days, including less than a couple of hours ago when I ran my last scan. I tried double clicking again just now and the *&^%$#@! thing decided to respond. Yeesh!

Since I installed v. 2.1.8.1057, I have had to right click on the icon in my notification area then left click on Open Malwarebytes Anti-Malware instead of just double left clicking on the icon to get a window for running a scan like I used to do. Did the method of opening up a window change with this version or is there a setting I'm missing?
I saw this behavior on one of my systems (as have a few others) and it has been reported to the QA team: after updating to 2.1.8 Premium and rebooting, the system tray icon did NOT respond to the double left-click to open the GUI, but the right-click context menu still worked.

The workaround for me was simple:

    • If rebooting the computer doesn't resolve it, exit MBAM from the system tray icon (RIGHT-click the icon > exit);
    • Restart MBAM from the desktop shortcut icon.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, then a proper CLEAN reinstall probably will: MBAM Clean Removal 2x
It's important to follow ALL the steps, and another reboot after installation (even if not prompted to do so) is a good idea.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks, Moxie, but, as I reported in my second post, the silly thing "healed itself" and is responding correctly now. I have no idea what I did to fix it, assuming I even did anything (which I doubt), but, being a firm believer in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy, I'm leaving well enough alone. It is good to know I'm not the only one loosing her marbles, though. I'll be checking out of the looney bin shortly.

Btw, I don't have the desktop icon for MBAM. I opt out of it when installing. All my security programs have icons together in the notification area.

    Glad it's resolved.

As far as the workaround, if you have no desktop shortcut icon, then the alternative would be to open from the start menu.

    Thanks,

'Tis always good to have a Plan B in place (beats Plan 9).

Notifications center icon has in the past been a bit buggy = might disappear if clicked on or there might be 2 listed :/
Haven't seen any bugs in the recent version though.

Those are long ago and many program versions ago resolved, AFAIK.

Current quirk/bug/behavior of being initially unresponsive to double-click has been rare, not-consistently reproducible and, thus far, has not been replicated in the lab.
I only saw it on 1 box, not the other.

Many users never use that feature, so it may be a while before they track it down.
In the interim, it may resolve itself, as LF reported, or is easily fixed with several workarounds.

Haven't seen any bugs in the recent version though.
    Great, thanks for reporting.
(The new build actually provides several bug fixes and performance improvements, not just the new licensing system.)

    Cheers,

If you are using v2.1.8.1057 Premium, you may want to check if Malicious Website Protection is working, especially if you login with a Standard (Limited) account.
For me, it may or may not work, with no alert or warning when it isn't.

Mine is ticked and blocks that site so I guess I'm OK. I'm running in an admin account though.
