    AV /Malware software

Hello Everyone, i have several AV / Mal-aware software packages running in my machine (probably not a good idea to have them all installed )Outpost security suite.
Malwarebytes ,Spy-bot, lava soft MS security essentials, windows firewall.

And it seems that my CPU is working very hard when i try to open any applications and or web browsers. anywhere from 20 to 40 percent for any given task.

Also my boot up time is very long, probably due to all the AV software installed, i would like to uninstall all of them, to see if my CPU load, and boot time get any better, what would be the best optimum AV / malaware (Free )package to use ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Welcome
Best is a matter of opinion. For me the best is Microsoft Security Essentials and a weekly scan with the free Malwarebytes.
I am a member of the BSOD team and I have seen almost every AV cause the bad BSODs, except for Microsoft Security Essentials. I had Avast, but it missed several bad virus.

There is one more component that most dont mention and that is common sense. Use the suggested software and stay away from sites that are the most tempting and you should be OK. It would be a problem to use more than one Anti Virus software.
There is not software that is a 100% guarantee.

I can't tell you the best because it's all in the eyes of the beholder. Here is what I use and it works for me.
    Microsoft Sercuity Essentials.
    Built in Windows 7 Firewall
    Malwarebytes Anti Malware Pro
    Filehippo Up Date Checker.
    -------------------------------------
    What I don't use
    Torrent of any kind
    P2P of any kind
I also try to keep the nut behind the mouse and keyboard updated; ME.

OK thanks for all the Ideas, i will uninstall everything , reboot, then re install
    Microsoft Sercuity Essentials.
    Built in Windows 7 Firewall
    Malwarebytes Anti Malware Free version
    FilehippoUp Date Checker.

and hopes that improves my system, if not i know i have to look else where to see whats using up my CPU,

i do go to a torrent site once in a while, but not that often, i know there are viruses on those site, so i am very careful on what i get, and always do a scan before i instal

once again, thanks for all the info.

    Pantz,
I'm a little late getting into the act, but I agree totally with the advice from Rich and Golden.

MSE and MalwareBytes (which I consider to be optional, but does no harm).

My favorite program for keeping programs up to date is the Secunia Personal Security Inspector:
