I don't care what they come up with next. Norton have done their dash as far as I'm concerned and they can keep their products. If it works for you then good but I'm not playing

I had stopped using Norton 4-5 years ago. But in late 2008, I read a lot of reviews about NIS2009. Norton completely revamped and rewrote their products. I installed NIS2009 on 5-6 PCs running Windows XP and Vista. I have loved it ever since. Light on system resources. Fast operation. Doesn't impact your PC's performance.

Needless to say, after many years of bad experiences with Norton, I was more than pleasantly surprised.

About a week ago, I installed NIS2010 on a fairly new Win7 install. Seems to work just as well or better than NIS2009 on XP.

I recommend that anyone read reviews, forums etc regardin NIS2009 and 2010.

And the best news about it?

If you are a registered Norton 2009 user, you can upgrade to Norton 2010 for free!!!

I had a nice lady from Symantec on the phone, and she told me that I could just download the new product and enter my serial from 2009.

    So I did, and I have 2010 running on 3 pc's now.

First time ever I could upgrade anything for free.

    Thanks Symantec!

Here is some more good info around 2010 - go to updatecenter.norton.com, it'll autodetect the version you have, download, and install the new one!

I agree that Norton used to SUCK badly for several years, it seemed good until about 2002 or 2003 then started a bad downward slide. Used to call NIS Satan as it seemed more apt. Now though, with 2009 and even more so with 2010 it is really, really good stuff. (almost hurts to say it lol, I HATED them so bad ) If you have not tried the new 2010 versions then do not knock them as they are amazingly light and well behaved, and actually catch the malware/virus.

Personally the one I hate most is AVG, I do not think it works well at all as I do malware and virus removals at least every other day for people running AVG. To each their own though, I run nothing and am never infected and have never been infected!

So glad to see Norton has developed something to slow down Windows 7. Seriously though does Norton secretly work for apple? I wouldn't install there garbage if it was free like AVG. I won't use AVG either cause they have joined the kill your computer club as well. Man if only I could tell you how I really feel..

NIS2010 is doing great, fast, light, high detection rates, innovative features. And at least here in the US, if you buy at the right time, you can get it for free or close to free.

What more do you need ?

I got a free key for NIS2010 from the MS New Efficiency event yesterday and, despite the problems I have had with Norton in the past, decided to install it. So far, I'm impressed. It is lightweight, and the detection rates are excellent.

I'm going to give it the year that it says I have on my sub and see how it goes. I've never been one to pay for AV software, and I doubt this will change my mind with products like MSE and Avast out there, but I see no harm in giving it a shot.
