    Mcafee Total Protection 2010

Installation is very quick and easy.

Taking up to 35-40 MB RAM when idle.

Quick scan nearly takes 5 mins.

    Firewall is easily configurable.

Interface is very simple. I guess its because its a beta version. Mcafee total protection 2009 has a different GUI altogether.

Will check on the detections and heuristics later.

Overall a very nice product. But can slow down old computers.
Nevertheless, if you've got 4 GB RAM, would you mind giving 40-50 MB towards security?

What i like about mcafee is its virtual technician. It can fix many issues without reinstalling mcafee products.

I used Mcafee years ago and hated it then. Getting my antivirus's permission to do anything did not sit well with me.

Hi Leslie, i guess the earlier products were horrible. This one's quite impressive. Try it.

    Be careful with McAfee

There beta of 2010 appears to be W7 compatible - but they are also selling their 2009 product in boxes labeled 2010. the 09 version isn't W7 compatible.

Man My old school used the 2006 version and it used at least 200MB for the shield (avshield.exe, I think).
    Glad to see some improvements.
When I look at AntiVirus in terms of resources, I really dont care about RAM as long as its under 50MB. I care about CPU usage. Mcafee is always high on CPU. Just load a program with task manager open and see how much CPU it uses, same with Vipre. NOD32 is VERY good at CPU.
