Java/Sun Microsystems/Oracle America has some people in the world that don't like them. It seem like they are getting hit by something once a week. I haven't used Java in a long time but I do check for other updates for other things using FileHippo Update Checker. I believe it still checks for Java updates.

    Dilemma

I have never uninstalled Java yet. A financial site I use runs some of their software with it. I have never been HiJacked yet but I am concerned.

Hum HH I wonder what they use for security then as I doubt they would want nasties sniffing around.

I personally am really concerned with the minimal training or even the lack of training and education that is given to employees who work with some extremely confidential personal information regarding security when that work involved the use of computerised systems.

I am talking not only financial information but information that can and probably is used by individuals for ill gotten gains. I think that sometimes we get fixated on the financial aspects of security and tend to show little regard for an individuals privacy to name but one issue.

Most of the people I work with are really quite blaise' about security and I often see this when they bring along their machines because they are "slow" or not working properly at all. This has in my mind an add on effect in how they apply themselves to the work they do - when using computers or computer systems in their daily course of work time.

    Transparaency

I would think if a significant number of their coustmer base had encountered a problem that they would take some kind of action. The forgoing statement is based on trust. Trust can easily be misplaced.

    Oh Well

Funny thing. I did an MS, MBAM and Norton Scan while we were discussing Java. MS found this. I need to check the other two machines tomorrow. They are off at present.

I think Free Computer Security - Personal Software Inspector (PSI) - Secunia is a better and more trusted update checker.

That is odd for a financial site, are you sure it's not Java Script? It is a programming language while Java is software.

I haven't use PSI in a few months but when I did it had more bugs than a rotten log. That is why I stopped recommending it.
I will take a another look and see if it works for me.

I've been using PSI continuously on several machines on both XP and Win7 for several years and I haven't had a problem. Each version gets better.
