You can't make a blanket statement like that. I tried Vipre and it falsely detected one of my files and screwed it up and I had to reformat to get the program working again. So in my opinion it is crap.

Just trying to bug ESET fanboy Mercurial. Ever since I moved from Nod32 to Vipre, he loves to tear down everything I post. He obviously can't accept the fact that I prefer Vipre over Nod.

I prefer Vipe, some prefer Nod32, that's fine. No ONE anti virus is the best by any means.

False positives can happen with any anti virus but I'm not sure why you or Dinesh are having a problem with it. I have not had one false positive with Vipre, but even if I did, the default action is to quarantine the threat. Just go into quarantine and restore it. Vipre does not delete the threat by default. I'm surprised you guys wouldn't have know this.

I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 and it uses very little resources



This was not the case when I tested it on XP, But it works perfect with Windows7...

Kaspersky Internet Security has many valuable features.....



One of the features I like most is KIS 2010 includes a Sandbox, I can browse the internet within a virtual environment without having to worry about Infections..(I used to have to use SandboxIE for this)

Plus Kaspersky updates very frequently



And I got a license for under $10 on ebay......

ESET is a good AV, especially if your into the Warez scene because you get less false positives..

I have never tried Viper before, But I know Counterspy is a great product, Have they integrated Zemana Antilogger in viper yet?

I just like to know I have a good AV + Firewall AIO that I trust, I have been using Kaspersky for 3 years and never had a virus that wasn't from something I Ignorantly installed myself, warez....If you get my drift......

Its cool to let people know about the security products you prefer, but let them decide for themselves what they would rather use...

if only Vipre had of moved the file to quarantine I wouldn't have had to reinstall everything. It screwed the file...didn't delete it, didn't quarantine it...screwed it.

I have never used a firewall. I have a router with hardware firewall. My signal is stealth (when I try to ping on Steve Gibson's site). I run a few spyware proggies once every 6 months and nothing.

The lighter I keep my system , the better (for me).

I have NOD 32 Antivirus (not security) and that's fine for me. Average processor use is 25%. I don't think that I'll game while doing a full scan. When not in use, it runs at less than 1%.

For me that's fine.

That is strange indeed. What exactly happened? I've had anything it found put into quarantine automatically. It's never screwed or deleted anything on me.

Proof? Yeah, it would delete several files shipped with Shark's codecs every time. I posted about it in his codec thread. He was aware of it, reported it to ESET and they did nothing about it. He even states it on his codec page. Perhaps they fixed it now, but it wasn't fixed and was an issue. So much so he called out ESET and suggested people stop using it.
